Can anyone help me with two questions:
1) Has the software update feature for Firefox ever work in identifying that there is a new version of FF itself out? I get updates to themes and extensions, but never FF. PR didn't find 1.0 when I clicked the prefs check for updates, and 1.0 didn't find 1.0.1, and now 1.0.1 didn't find 1.0.2. In the previous two cases, this was true even a couple weeks after the release of the new version (months for a lab PC using PR 0.8 that I hadn't been using for a while). So I figure that for some reason, the feature just doesn't work for me, in spite of the fact that there is an option checked right there, to look for FF updates.
2) Since search plug-ins are stored inside the contents of Firefox, what do people do in order to avoid having to re-install all their search plug-ins? Archive the directory and restore it? Or is there an easier way?
1) I don't believe so.
2) I just uninstall and reinstall the new version of Firefox. I haven't noticed that I lose anything, bookmarks, extensions, or plugins.
Oh, and I'm on a Windows  machine. I don't know if that makes a difference.
Hope this helps you out.

I also have perceived speed increases on my MBP after the updates. Startups and shutdowns are much faster and the overall feel of the system is "snappier".

Thanks for the replies! I'm a little surprised there's not one speaking up for Perl, but yeah, did some more research on my own and found this
http://strombergers.com/python/
The Cocoa bridges/runtime are not a concern to me as I don't want "to make decent Mac OSX apps" with GUI and everything, just some command line tools for my own use. But the examples at that link pushed me over to go with Python. To put together quick automation scripts every now and then, I don't want to deal with a steep learning curve. The Perl examples there looked just too cryptic to me.

replace bookshelf with floating shelves.
replace coffee table with storage ottoman.
do you have a closet?
if so, mount tv and put boxes, etc in closet; get rid of tv stand.
what's your budget?

superfluous "design" elements make it look needlessly bulky, completely negating the original design's desire to be as minimal and unobtrusive as possible.

mac mini's are cheaper and faster than mini ITX pc's so they have taken over their market, a G4 obliterates a VIA cpu.Yeah, I'm REALLY hard pressed to build my own Mini-ITX to play with Linux when I can but a refurb Mac Mini for less and with more power.

I'm planning on coming. I didn't pre-order so I'll get there pretty early. I'm going to call the store this week and try to find out if they have an idea of the number of phones not already sold through pre-order.

Cool.
Any comments about the battery life?
Hard for me to say. I've only charged it twice since xmas. I only have 2GB card (22 mins at 720P 60hz). The battery is more than enough to fill that up a few times.
The anti shake feature works really well and is probably the main reason the footage is better than the Iphone 4.

I have bought from all of those stores and have found that THIS MAN (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/kyle-baccus/4/50b/728) is the apple parts expert.
I can't even begin to explain how much Kyle has helped me.
grassrootscomputers should also be in the hall of fame.

Check the SMART data on the drive and do a short test:
http://www.volitans-software.com/smart_utility.php
Why does everyone keep using this program?? It is so unreliable.. I use something called disk radar and its 300 times better than voltans poc program. Either disk radar or DiskTools Pro - those are much better than using voltans garbage program.. for instance.. I got a 2TB drive a few days ago and already smart utility says its failing.. I call BS here and then I ran it under windows and using disktools pro and disk radar - the drive passed all tests and is NOT failing..
Stay away from smart utility - its a POC program (POC=Piece of crap).

Can I run two external displays from the 21" iMac? One from mini dp with vga converter and one from thunderbolt to vga or hdmi? It looks like the graphics card only supports one external display by the specs.. so what would be the point of using the thunderbolt over the mini display port right?
I would get a 21.5" iMac to go with my two 22" ips monitors if I knew it could work...

Native Instruments (http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?home_us), Traktor 2.5 IMHO is essential for non-vinyl Dj'ing, and with Reaktor Session you get excellent synths for a decent price... I like that :)
T.C. Electronic (http://www.tcelectronic.com/) are cool too, because they give you their powerful Spark ME audio editor for free...
and finally, the team that develops VLC Mediaplayer (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)...

The new 3.1 interface, while generally nice, takes away the option to change the color of the dock notification. Now I have clashing red starbursts in my Dock (those of NNW and Mail). I really preferred having only Mail red, because I need to see new mail out of the corner of my eye, but who really cares about new RSS items...:rolleyes:

I was gonna head down, means an early early start though! I was about 30th in the queue for the 3g - but 7th to leave the store - but that wasn't until like 1330! with all the issues signing up to o2.
Yikes - did the paperwork and so on take hours?

do u notice the difference of 2gb of ram in your day to day activites, such as powering on, or running multible programs at once? or is the 2gb not even utilized until you edit videos n stuff? and it has to feel a little silly in a lecture when u have a huge screen in front of you.

ok, im starting saving up. :)
also you can connect apple display with mini displayport to thunderbolt. what the diference it would be if a display has thunderbolt? bigger resolution because of higher speed?
and what would daisy-chaining give me?

Thanks for the heads up! I think I'm actually going to Target first . . .I've heard that some targets have started handing out vouchers already. It would be great to get a voucher and then just wander around. I think you're probably right about 16gb selling out first. Good Luck! If I'm unsuccessful you may see me at BB too.
Really? It's about 30 people over here. And good luck to you too. Hopefully we both get lucky and get the model we want.

Saurik actually fixed a version, but it's sort of a beta so its not published; it's only available as a .deb file:
http://apt.saurik.com/debs/mobileterminal_364.3-12_iphoneos-arm.deb
If you have iFile or OpenSSH installed, you can use them to install it. Let me know if you need instructions.
Otherwise there are others in various non-standard Cydia repositories, which you would have to add to Cydia:
http://cydia.myrepospace.com/iDignify/ (which hasn't been working lately)
or
http://www.podzombie.com/repository/
but Saurik's actually has more features, despite the lower version number.
If you need to install it through ifile then I'm guessing you have to uninstall it through ifile as well? I haven't installed/uninstalled anything through SSH-ing or ifile yet so some instructions would be much appreciated!
Edit: is it really as simple as selecting install from within ifile? I clicked the link you gave for the beta on the iPod and safari let me open the deb file in ifile. Don't wanna mess anything up but man it sure seems simple.
Edit 2: well I went ahead and installed it, it works! Thanks a bunch.
