God I hate Notes- it's an operating system on top of an operating system. It's databases are just a step up from Access and to be honest - it's a pig.
I've been forced to use the piece a crap for over 5 years (I'm a consultant) and it had brought me great pleasure to help large scale enterprises move away from this overstuffed piece of crap.
Is Exchange any better - yes and no - in general they both are crappy. The biggest advantage of Notes is that their CALs (licenses) are so cheep compared to Exchange/Outlook.
When I start looking for a new job - the first question I'll ask is which Universal Messaging Platform have you deployed in your Enterprise? If they answer "Notes" I'll know the following about their organziation:
1. They care more about the dollar than about usability and employee satisfaction
2. The VP of IT is probably sleeping with the IBM rep
3. The business only uses it because they don't know any better (they've been there too long and have never used anything other than Notes and AOL).
4. They think that Notes databases are cool and hip and truly believe Access is an enterprise level database
5. And finally, they are so damn stupid they probably have Lotus 123 and Word Perfect as their "Office Suite"

That embodies ignorance. It is in fact, just the opposite, more companies use exchange because it's already there and they don't know any better, not to mention that MS practically forces you to use it and they attempt to make it so easy that a baboon could set it up. In the world of print, there are two ways to receive newspapers and magazines: single copies on the newsstand, or via subscription delivery. Subscription delivery is traditionally a lot cheaper than via the newsstand. The main reason for that is because the publisher knows demographic information about you, and they use that information to attract advertisers to the publication. They don't get that value from the anonymous newsstand purchaser, so prices are accordingly higher. Each issue of the publication is subsidized by the advertisers. (It costs a fortune to put together a world-class publication, paying writers and editors and designers and running the company.)
These publishers want to continue to encourage people to subscribe to their electronic version by offering a lower price... they can only afford to do this by continuing to collect demographic user information that they can use to attract advertisers who will subsidize the cost of the publication. They will probably offer single issues online (or maybe even subscriptions online) at higher prices than the normal subscription to people who don't share their information. Your information is worth money, they know that and their advertisers know that, and you should know that too. If you withhold your information, you are holding back money, and thus asking for something for less. (Will you get it? How nicely are you asking?)
All this talk about selling email addresses to third parties is speculation and red herrings. This is about subsidizing subscriptions and paying for content. It's the business of the subscription publishing industry, and Apple wants to change it. If you don't have it now - don't bother getting it. There are free services that do everything that .Mac does. However, since I am so dependent on the email address - I'm stuck paying the $99 a year.
You can get it for $79, sometimes lower, on Amazon.com. Don't fall for the all-too-easy "automatic renewal" check box. I've wasted at least one hundred bucks over the years through that thing.

Well to be fair, the camera manufacturers are twats for recording to a delivery codec in the first place
I agree 100% with both of your posts. It still bothers me that compressor is the only application that can make full use of both my Mac Pro�s CPUs.
And I really hate the look of low bitrate AVCHD but we have to work with it nonetheless.

I bet that I4 LTZ sells better than the V6 Fusion. V6's in mid-size sedans will become rare with CAFE. The new Malibu is supposed to be I4 only. The next-gen Fusion will also ditch the V6 from what I hear. Sonata already is I4 only.
Both the Sonata and the Malibu fail if compared to the Fusion, here at least. It is not about having a V6, but paying more for a same size car with same equipment but with 170hp as compared to 245, the latter wins. Plus the current Malibu is ugly as hell, let's face it. The new one might change those figures though. And if Hyundai sold the 200bhp Sonata here, I am sure it would be a win, even costing more than a V6 Azera, which is ridiculous.

I'm currently recording with a MXL 991 condenser through my M-audio Fast Track Pro.
It seems to have a pretty weak built-in preamp as I have to turn the gain up around 90% to get a decent sound from it which is, of course, quite fuzzy.
I've also heard that the MXL 990 series are fairly low-output mics.
Any solutions?

You know the new games would be more interesting if played like that too. These first person shooter games are ridiculous because you keep getting back up after dying. The thing is that it doesn't seem as boring to play like that because the scenery of the game keeps changing. But try having two people play as far as possible with one life or three if that is standard and go as far as possible on that. I bet it is a better game if you play with the rul that you start over when you die in the game.

Give me specifics about codec and apps used and I can help you solve this issue no matter what video card you have.
